Utah Emerges as a Leader in AI Job Opportunities
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah and Salt Lake County are gaining national recognition as favorable locations for jobs requiring artificial intelligence (AI) skills. A recent report by LinkUp, in partnership with the University of Maryland, reveals that Utah ranked 17th in the nation for new job postings necessitating AI expertise in March 2025. Notably, the Salt Lake metro area accounted for the highest number of AI-related job postings.
Zachary Boyd, Director of Utah’s Office for AI Policy, attributes this success to strategic investments in education and a business-friendly regulatory environment. “Utah sets itself apart from other AI hubs due to its supportive framework for K-12 education and small businesses,” Boyd stated. He emphasized the importance of integrating AI into daily life, highlighting the robust workforce presence in this growing field.
Areas such as biomedical and software development are particularly thriving in Utah. Boyd reassured the public that advancements in AI would primarily augment existing jobs rather than replace them. “Most jobs involving AI will be enhanced by the technology,” he noted, reaffirming a positive outlook on the future of employment in the state.
