Florida Man Charged with Aggravated Kidnapping in Utah
UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A 33-year-old man from Florida, Alex Pete Guy of Mulberry, has been charged with Aggravated Kidnapping after allegedly traveling to Utah to marry a 17-year-old girl. The incident unfolded when the girl’s mother reported her missing from their home. Authorities were alerted, leading to an investigation.
According to court documents, a friend informed sheriff’s deputies that the teenager had been communicating with Guy online and was believed to be with him. Utilizing GPS data from the girl’s AirPods, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office successfully located the pair in Wyoming shortly after the girl went missing.
Upon his arrest, Guy confessed to having an online relationship with the teen for three months, fully aware of her age. He admitted to flying to Utah to pick up the girl with intentions to marry her. Following his arrest, Guy was ordered to remain in jail without bail. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the safety of minors in online relationships and the potential risks involved.
