Kansas Baseball Secures Series Win Against Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The Kansas Jayhawks continued their winning streak, achieving a decisive 12-5 victory over Utah on Saturday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark, marking their seventh consecutive win. This triumph moves Kansas to 34-10 overall and 14-6 in Big 12 play, the most wins in a season since 2014.

Offensively, Tommy Barth led the charge with four hits, while Brady Counsell and Ian Francis contributed three and two hits respectively, with Counsell belting his 10th home run of the season. Barth and Francis each drove in three runs, maintaining a strong offensive presence throughout the game.

Pitcher Cooper Moore delivered a quality start, allowing just two runs in six innings for his fifth win, supported by Thaniel Trumper who sealed the game with a three-inning save.

After an early 2-0 lead, Kansas faced a tied game before pulling ahead with four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by key hits and strategic plays. The Jayhawks aim for a series sweep in Sunday’s finale, broadcast on ESPN+.

Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald praised the team’s performance, emphasizing their offensive power and the strong pitching from Moore and Trumper.
