USC Football Secures Commitment from Rising Star WR Zacharyus Williams
USC Trojan football has bolstered its receiver corps with the commitment of Zacharyus Williams, a rising sophomore previously at Utah. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound Gardena-Serra alum announced his decision on Saturday, bringing considerable potential after a strong freshman year where he caught 10 passes for 101 yards over 10 games.
Kyle Whittingham, Utah’s head coach, praised Williams as "wide receiver one," highlighting his impressive ability to gain yards after the catch and his versatility in run plays. Williams showcased his talent during a notable performance against UCF, where he recorded six receptions for 72 yards and contributed with rushing yards.
Having entered the transfer portal earlier this week, Williams quickly chose USC, influenced by his prior connection to the local program. The Trojans are in need of additional receiving options for coach Lincoln Riley, with Ja’Kobi Lane returning as a key player and Boise State transfer Prince Strachan joining the mix. Williams brings experience, having played last season and now holding three years of eligibility. His commitment marks USC’s first offensive addition from the portal this spring, following the recruitment of players from defensive positions.
