Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Daliv Shahrukh Khozhakbarovich, has called for increased cooperation between Sharif University of Technology and top universities in Uzbekistan. During a meeting with Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, the chancellor of Sharif University, a memorandum of understanding was signed to share expertise on science and technology parks and establish a branch of Sharif University in Tashkent. Khozhakbarovich also met with Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to discuss potential collaborations in scientific and technological fields, highlighting the importance of face-to-face interactions between officials.
The two countries aim to collaborate on joint research, student and professor exchanges, and sports activities for students. Uzbekistan is looking to Iran as a leader in knowledge and technology to enhance cooperation in health, education, and technology. In November 2024, Uzbekistan expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Iran, focusing on exchanging students and professors, promoting collaborations between knowledge-based companies, and participating in joint events and seminars.
Hossein Roozbeh, head of the Organization for the Development of International Cooperation in Science and Technology, emphasized the strong historical and cultural connections between the two countries, providing a strong foundation for education and technological cooperation. Both countries see the potential to benefit from each other’s strengths and capabilities. With a shared vision for progress, the collaboration between Iran and Uzbekistan in education and technology is poised for growth and success.
