Utah Utes tight end Landen King has entered the transfer portal with a do not contact tag, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. King, a former Auburn transfer, had a promising first season with the Utes but saw his role diminish in his second year. He recorded three catches for 54 yards in 2024 after posting 166 receiving yards in 2023. With the emergence of redshirt freshman Hunter Andrews, it was unlikely King would have a greater role in 2025. Additionally, redshirt senior Otto Tia was moved to the tight end spot during spring workouts.
King had a career-high 63 receiving yards against Arizona in 2023 and scored his first touchdown with Utah that season. However, he was less involved in the struggling passing game in 2024, with his first catch of the season coming in Week 10 against Colorado. King is the ninth Utah player to enter the portal this spring, joining wide receiver Zach Williams in departing from last season’s 5-7 squad.
Entering the portal with a do not contact tag means King does not want to be contacted directly by coaches or programs while in the portal. The transfer portal closes Friday at midnight. This news adds to the roster changes for Utah as they prepare for the upcoming season.
