The New York helicopter tour company involved in the fatal crash in the Hudson River last week has been grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The agency issued an emergency order to ground New York Helicopter Charter, Inc. due in part to the company’s director of operations being fired. The crash, which occurred at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, claimed the lives of Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and the pilot. Following the crash, the company voluntarily shut down flights. The FAA is conducting an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash and is reviewing the company’s operations through a Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
