Another Utah building added to ‘accelerated’ sale list by Trump administration

The James V. Hansen Federal Building in Ogden is the latest Utah federal building to be identified for disposal by the Trump administration. The General Services Administration (GSA) included the building on a list of properties eligible for accelerated disposition and sale. The GSA is aiming to downsize and reduce taxpayer burdens while providing space for agency missions. The Hansen building, completed in 1965, currently houses several federal agencies, including the IRS and Social Security Administration. While the sell-offs do not necessarily mean tenants will have to move, the GSA could potentially lease back the space from the buyer. The Hansen building was originally listed for sale in December 2024 under President Biden but was later removed. The updated list now includes seven properties in seven states, including the Hansen building, which is the second-largest property on the list. The GSA continues to make efforts to address deficiencies and streamline the federal asset portfolio.
