Two teenage girls, Abigael Paige Flanagan and Mihaela Gabriela Sorescu, have been charged with murder in connection to the death of 47-year-old Andreea Mottram, who was found stabbed to death in a vacation rental in Utah almost two weeks ago. The victim, who was originally from California, had traveled to Washington City to visit her daughter Sorescu, who had been in a residential treatment facility for the past three years. Sadly, Mottram’s body was discovered by house cleaners with over a dozen stab wounds to her upper body.
Investigators found evidence linking Flanagan and Sorescu, including phones in the toilet, blood-stained articles of clothing, and knives in the rental property. In a heartbreaking twist, Sorescu’s father had previously found her diary expressing hatred towards her mother and a desire to kill her. Mottram, a hospice social worker, and advocate for human rights, was remembered by her community for her dedication to justice and equity. The two suspects are currently in custody in Washington County, awaiting further legal proceedings.
