The University of Denver women’s gymnastics team finished third in the 2025 NCAA Regional competition, narrowly missing a top-two finish by less than three tenths of a point. The unseeded team scored a 197.350, ahead of the No. 10-ranked Minnesota. The top two finishers, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 UCLA, secured spots in the NCAA National Championships.
Coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart commended the team for their performance, noting significant improvement from the beginning of the season. Denver excelled in the beam and floor rotations, achieving some of the highest scores in postseason history. The team’s overall score tied for the seventh highest in program history.
In the beam rotation, Denver set a new season high with a 49.550, with all routines scoring at or above 9.850. The floor rotation continued the success with scores in the 9.900 range and personal bests from multiple gymnasts. However, the team faced challenges on vault due to fatigue from competing twice in three days.
Denver regrouped for a strong bars rotation, matching their score from the previous round and finishing the competition on a high note. The team will await individual event qualifier selections for the NCAA National Championships.
