Utah Valley University men’s basketball head coach Todd Phillips has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the helm of the Wolverine program through the 2027-28 season. Phillips has been instrumental in building a championship culture at UVU, leading the team to success both on and off the court. Under his guidance, the team has achieved an impressive record of 41-25 in the past two seasons, including a dominant 26-10 mark in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play.
In the 2024-25 season, Phillips led UVU to a 25-9 record, a league-leading 15-1 mark in WAC play, and the outright WAC regular-season championship. The team also earned the No. 1 seed in the 2025 WAC Tournament and made its third-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). Phillips was recognized for his efforts with a finalist nomination for the Hugh Durham Award, given to the nation’s top mid-major head coach.
Under Phillips’ leadership, UVU has become one of the nation’s top defensive teams, ranking highly in blocks, defensive rebounds, and rebounds per game. Offensively, the Wolverines lead the WAC in field goal percentage, assists per game, and rebound margin. The team also made history by finishing the 2024-25 season undefeated at home for the first time, with key victories over notable opponents.
Phillips expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the UVU men’s basketball program and looks forward to building on recent successes, competing for championships, and developing student-athletes both on and off the court. With the contract extension, UVU aims to solidify its position as a competitive force in college basketball under Phillips’ guidance.
