The University of Utah swim and dive program had eight members named to the College Sports Communications Academic All-District team, tying for the most in the nation for the third season in a row. Among the honorees were standout performances from sophomore Nick Chirafisi, who achieved a 3.76 GPA and multiple first-place finishes, and junior Kathryn Grant, who excelled in diving competitions and maintained a 3.96 GPA. Notably, graduate student Jesco Helling made history as the first Utah student-athlete to win an individual Big 12 title. The women’s team also saw success, with junior Erin Palmer earning a prestigious Swimmer of the Meet honor and junior Evan VanBrocklin breaking a school record in the 100-yard butterfly. The team’s academic success was equally impressive, with several student-athletes boasting high GPAs in a variety of degree programs. The Utes are now up for consideration for CSC Academic All-American honors, showcasing their excellence both in the pool and in the classroom.
