The California baseball team started off a four-game homestand with a 9-4 victory over Utah at Stu Gordon Stadium. The Bears showed resilience after trailing 3-1, with key home runs from Jacob French and Ryan Tayman to bring them back. French hit a three-run blast down the left field line, while Tayman blasted a two-run shot that landed beyond the left field wall. The Bears’ offense was boosted by players like Jarren Advincula, Cade Campbell, and Dominic Smaldino who all had multiple-hit games.
Pitchers Oliver de la Torre and Logan Piper also contributed to the win, with de la Torre getting his first collegiate win and Piper recording his first save. Head coach Mike Neu praised the team’s performance and highlighted the importance of solid at-bats for securing victories.
Cal will now prepare for a home ACC series against No. 23/14/19 Virginia, with live video streams available for all three games.
