SAN JOSE, Calif. – In an exciting game at Excite Ballpark, the San José State baseball team secured an 8-5 victory over Utah in the final game of their three-game series. Jake McCoy and Jeriah Lewis were standout performers, with McCoy going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Lewis hitting his third home run of the season. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging leads early on before the Spartans took control late in the game. Win Scott earned the win on the mound, with Nolan George and Tyler Albanese performing well in relief.
This victory marks the Spartans’ first series win over a Power Four opponent since 2011, and they have now won all four series played this season. Lewis and McCoy led the offensive charge, while other players like Antonio Nanez, Alex Fernandes, and Drew Giannini also had strong performances. The team’s next game will be against Cal Poly on March 11 at Excite Ballpark. Fans can stream the game live on the Mountain West Network. #AllSpartans.
