Men’s Tennis Falls to Utah in Close 4-3 Match

In a close match at the Ed Collins Invite, Old Dominion men’s tennis team fell short against Utah with a 4-3 score on Sunday evening. The Monarchs started strong in doubles with wins from Connor Van Schalkwyk and Yanis Moundir, and Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan and Adam Majchrzak, securing the first point. However, Utah fought back with singles wins, including Berk Bugarikj’s victory over Van Schalkwyk. Despite strong performances from Aryan Saleh and Moundir, the Utes managed to tie the match at three. In a decisive tiebreaker set, Utah’s Reid Jarvis emerged victorious over Majchrzak, giving Utah the come-from-behind win.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Dominik Mueller praised his team’s character and resilience in the face of adversity. The Monarchs will look to bounce back as they continue their road trip and begin Sun Belt Conference play against Georgia State on Wednesday, March 12 at 11 a.m.
