Utah resident indicted for allegedly issuing terrorist threats and robbing a bank

A Utah man, Robert Buckley Hardy, 46, was arrested last week for robbing a bank in Millcreek and making terroristic threats at another bank in Cottonwood Heights. Hardy demanded $2,001 from the Millcreek bank employees and fled the scene. He then delivered a manifesto with an alarming statement at the Cottonwood Heights bank before leaving. The manifesto mentioned a bomb threat towards bank executives and the President of the United States.

Police tracked Hardy to his home in Brighton where he was taken into custody. Hardy admitted to going to both banks, dropping off the manifestos, and taking $2,001, citing the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, as the reason for the specific amount. He faces second-degree felony charges of robbery and threat of terrorism and is being held without bail pending a pretrial hearing.

Charges against Hardy are allegations and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The incident has left the community shocked and concerned about the safety of bank employees and customers.
