A southern Utah man, Patrick Wilson, was arrested earlier this week for allegedly stealing over $50,000 worth of construction tools and equipment. The Hurricane City Police Department had received multiple reports of theft in the area, leading them to identify Wilson as the suspect. After a search of his home, car, and storage unit, police found the stolen tools, drugs, paraphernalia, and guns, including a stolen handgun. Wilson admitted to the theft during questioning.
Wilson faces third-degree felony burglary and second-degree felony commercial obstruction and theft charges. Police believe additional charges may be added as the investigation progresses. Wilson is currently being held without bail pending a pretrial hearing.
The stolen items were returned to local businesses, and Wilson was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility. The Hurricane City Police Department reminds the public that all arrested individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The incident serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. For the latest news, weather, sports, and streaming video, visit ABC4 Utah.
