DOGE cuts federal office spaces in Utah by half

The Trump administration, under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk, has terminated 10 federal agency office space leases in Utah, citing them as wastes of taxpayer dollars. The terminated leases include locations in Logan, Bountiful, Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Moab, Monticello, and St. George, with a combined estimated value of over $1.2 million. Democrats on the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources reported three additional offices in Utah that may be affected by DOGE’s closure plans. The U.S. General Services Administration also listed three sites in Utah as “non-core properties” for disposal, including the Internal Revenue Service building in Ogden, the Wallace F. Bennet Federal Building in Salt Lake City, and the St. George Federal Building. The General Services Administration later removed the non-core property list from its website. Utah’s congressional delegation has not yet commented on the lease terminations as of Tuesday afternoon. The DOGE has made changes to its website in recent weeks, adjusting the total amount of money saved from the closures.
