Generous $14 Million Estate Gift Transforms Utah Athletics and Establishes Crimson Club Legacy Society

The Utah Athletics Department has received a $14 million estate gift from an anonymous donor to support women’s athletics programs. This legacy gift will create an endowment to benefit key initiatives for women’s athletics in perpetuity, totaling $20 million with a previous $6 million pledge from Harriet and Leo Hopf. The donor was inspired by the impact of the Hopfs’ gift on female student-athletes at the University of Utah. This generous contribution has led to the establishment of the Crimson Club Legacy Society, recognizing individuals and families who make charitable estate gifts to support the development of excellence in Utah Athletics. Members will receive benefits and recognition, including public acknowledgment in the Jon M. Huntsman Center and annual benefits of the Dr. John R. Park Legacy Society. Utah alumni and friends interested in joining the Society can complete a Bequest Intent Form and consult their financial advisor on the types of gifts that will have the greatest impact. The goal of the Legacy Society is to ensure future generations will have the opportunity to compete for championships and receive a first-class education at the University of Utah.
