The University of Utah softball team suffered a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Weber State Wildcats on the final day of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. Jolie Mayfield and Sianni Sakai hit their first collegiate home runs in the game. Utah, with a 6-15 record, initially took a 2-1 lead but fell behind as the Wildcats scored more runs. Sakai’s home run tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning. However, Weber State managed to score two more runs in the eighth to secure the win. Despite having a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth, Utah was unable to capitalize.
The team will now travel to Boise, Idaho, to face the Idaho State Bengals and Boise State Broncos on Friday. Season tickets for the 2025 campaign are now available for purchase.
