A hiker in Zion National Park’s Narrows had to be airlifted by rescue teams on Sunday morning. The Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue crew was called to assist an injured hiker who was unable to walk out of the canyon. The hiker, located 1.5 miles upstream, was being cared for by other hikers who were healthcare providers. A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter was dispatched to airlift the hiker from the canyon, and they were then taken to a landing zone and transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The successful rescue operation highlights the importance of being prepared and aware of the potential risks when exploring the beautiful but rugged terrain of national parks. Visitors are encouraged to hike with caution, take necessary safety precautions, and be prepared for emergencies. Zion National Park officials remind visitors to always prioritize safety and to notify park rangers of any emergencies or injuries encountered during their visit.
