Former congresswoman Mia Love, who has been battling glioblastoma multiforme, is no longer responding to treatment and her cancer is progressing. Her family, including daughter Abigale, is asking for memories and photos from those who knew her to create an archive of special moments to share with Love as they focus on enjoying their remaining time together.
Love, the first Black Republican woman to serve in Congress, has had a distinguished career in politics and media, serving as a city councilwoman, mayor, and congresswoman for Utah’s Congressional District 4. Following her time in Congress, Love became a contributor at CNN, a fellow at Georgetown University, and the national outreach director for Utah State University’s Center for Growth and Opportunity.
After being diagnosed with a GBM brain tumor, Love entered a clinical trial at Duke University. Despite the news that her cancer is not responding to treatment, Love has remained hopeful and credits her faith and science for helping her navigate this difficult journey. Her family now wants to focus on maximizing their time with her and creating a collection of memories to cherish.
As Love’s battle with cancer continues, those who knew her are encouraged to send their photos, videos, and memories to MiaLoveMemories@gmail.com to contribute to the special archive being created in her honor.
