While voting via secure drop boxes is preferred by many Utahns, particularly in rural areas, mail-in voting remains important for others. A survey conducted by the Sutherland Institute and Y2 Analytics found that most Utahns were confident in the accuracy of their ballots, with the inclusion of photo ID requirements for mail-in ballots increasing voter confidence. Other proposed election reforms include greater transparency in the primary nomination process and increased security measures for signature verification.
As discussions continue among lawmakers, Utahns await the final decision on the future of the state’s elections, which is expected to come in the form of an omnibus election bill that balances ease of access with heightened security measures.
