Woman in Las Vegas accused of drugging and scamming older men from dating apps

Aurora Phelps, a woman from Las Vegas, has been accused of luring men through dating sites, drugging them, and stealing their money. She is currently in custody in Mexico following a federal indictment against her in the U.S. She faces charges including kidnapping, wire fraud, mail fraud, identity theft, and bank fraud. The scheme involved meeting older men on dating apps, drugging them, and accessing their financial information while they were unconscious.

Phelps is alleged to have operated on both sides of the Mexico-U.S. border, with victims in both countries. Some victims died after being drugged and robbed, while others survived. The total value of her scheme is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, with potentially more victims yet to be identified.

Authorities have identified 11 victims so far, with four forming the basis of the federal indictment. The FBI believes there may be additional victims and urges anyone who believes they have been targeted by Phelps to come forward. She has used various aliases and has dual citizenship with Mexico, but was born in the U.S. Mexican authorities are cooperating with the FBI to investigate and potentially extradite Phelps for trial.

If convicted, Phelps could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. The case is ongoing, with authorities seeking justice for the victims of this elaborate romance scam.
