U.S. Central Command Welcomes New Chief Technology Officer
The U.S. Central Command, responsible for American military operations in the Middle East, has announced the appointment of Joy Angela Shanaberger as its new Chief Technology Officer. Shanaberger, who previously worked as a senior adviser to Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks in the Biden administration, expressed excitement in joining the team at Central Command and mentioned her readiness to achieve big things together.

She takes over from Schuyler Moore, the first-ever CTO at Centcom, who will now serve in an intelligence role at U.S. Naval Forces Europe headquarters in Italy.
Shanaberger’s background includes founding a tech-acceleration company catering to the defense and intelligence communities and serving as a special assistant during the Obama administration. Moore praised Shanaberger’s onboard joining, expressing confidence in her ability to further advance technological initiatives at Central Command.
The addition of Shanaberger to the team has been welcomed by many, signaling a new chapter in advancing technological capabilities in military operations in the Middle East. Her appointment comes at a crucial time when innovation and technology play a significant role in shaping defense strategies and modernization efforts.
