Utah State men’s basketball suffered a tough loss to New Mexico, with a final score of 82-63. Despite a strong start and leading for most of the first half, Utah State struggled in the second half, allowing New Mexico to go on a 24-5 run and take the lead. Poor free throw shooting and struggles from behind the arc contributed to USU’s downfall.
Graduate guard Drake Allen led the Aggies with 14 points, followed by senior guard Deyton Albury with 12 points. Despite outscoring New Mexico in the paint and on fast break points, Utah State was outrebounded and struggled with shooting percentages.
The loss marks only the third of the season for Utah State and the second in Mountain West play. The team will look to bounce back in their upcoming road games, starting with a matchup against Wyoming on February 4th.
Fans can still purchase tickets for remaining home games and can follow Utah State’s men’s basketball program on social media for more updates and highlights.
