Portland Pilots Men’s Tennis Team Suffers First Loss of the Season
The Portland men’s tennis team experienced their first loss of the season with a score of 4-2 against the Utah Utes in a neutral site match at Nordstrom Tennis Center. Despite missing key player Stefan Skobelev due to injury, the Pilots put up a strong fight, with singles wins coming from Nikola Keremedchiev and Tom Garcia. Keremedchiev defeated Emmett Potter 6-2, 6-4, while Garcia secured a 6-0, 6-3 win over Max Relic. Unfortunately, Utah claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, ultimately clinching the match with wins at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 6.
Head coach Aaron Gross commended his team’s effort, stating that they were outmatched on paper but still fought hard. The Pilots will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches against Seattle U Redhawks and Washington.
