3 Lessons Learned from Utah’s Defeat at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State secured an 81-72 victory over Utah in a revenge win at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Bryce Thompson led the Cowboys with 20 points, while Marchelus Avery added 17. Despite a strong second-half effort by Ezra Ausar and Gabe Madsen, Utah struggled defensively and offensively, shooting only 40% for the game.

Oklahoma State capitalized on Utah’s turnovers and free-throw struggles in the first half, maintaining a lead throughout the game. The Cowboys shot nearly 50% from the field and dominated from the free-throw line, making 27 of 36 attempts. Utah, on the other hand, went 21 of 30 from the line and struggled with shooting efficiency.

Next up, the Utes will face Colorado in their only home game in the first four matchups of February. Colorado, currently in last place in the Big 12, will be looking to turn their season around when they face Utah on Wednesday after playing TCU on Sunday.
