Utah Hockey Club Honors Black History Month with Programming Celebrating Black Individuals and Businesses
Utah Hockey Club has announced their Black History Month programming, which will be featured on digital channels, game broadcasts, and at Delta Center. The programming aims to honor the achievements and contributions of Black individuals and businesses throughout Utah. President of hockey operations, Chris Armstrong, stated that the club seeks to drive meaningful change and support Black individuals and businesses in their effort to build a more inclusive community.
The programming includes the introduction of the Black Book, a resource showcasing nearly 50 Black-owned businesses in Utah, available on the Utah Hockey Club mobile app. Special guests from the Utah Black Chamber will engage with players and fans at select games, and a digital mini-series will highlight Black athletes who have shaped the sport of hockey. Additionally, the SEG Foundation will host an initiative to uplift Black restaurant owners in Salt Lake City.
Utah Hockey Club’s celebration of Black History Month follows their recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. at a recent game, showcasing their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Fans can learn more about the programming on the NHL’s website.
