Salt Lake City’s city council voted unanimously to rezone a portion of the west side, moving the city one step closer to potentially welcoming Major League Baseball to town. The area in question, known as the “Power District,” is located north of the Utah State Fairpark and is set to be developed into an MLB stadium and surrounding amenities by the Larry H. Miller Group. Renderings of the proposed development show plans for green space, trails, housing, dining, and retail in a walkable and bikeable area connected to public transportation. Councilwoman Victoria Petro emphasized the vision for a residential mixed-use development with commercial spaces and riverfront activation. The project aims to transform the 95-acre site into a vibrant hub for the community. While there is not yet an MLB team confirmed for Salt Lake City, the council’s decision marks progress towards making the city a potential home for professional baseball.
