Utah Utes ended their seven-game losing streak with a 28-14 victory over UCF on Friday night. The Utes scored two defensive touchdowns, including a 60-yard pick-6 by Zemaiah Vaughn, and capitalized on turnovers to secure the win. Despite UCF’s efforts, Utah’s defense dominated the game, forcing three turnovers. Utah’s lone offensive touchdown came on a 15-yard reception from quarterback Luke Bottari to Landen King. UCF struggled throughout the game and lost eight of their final nine games of the season.
Utah’s Micah Bernard had 87 yards on 22 carries, while RJ Harvey of UCF had 119 yards on 20 carries, setting a program record for most career touchdowns in UCF history. The season ended on a positive note for Utah but left UCF disappointed with their performance.
Looking ahead, Utah finishes the season at 5-7 and will not play in a bowl game, while UCF also ends their season at 4-8. Utah’s coach Kyle Whittingham has hinted at potential retirement after 20 years with the school.
