New charges have been filed against Colorado dentist James Craig, who is accused of fatally poisoning his wife’s protein shakes. The new charges focus on an alleged plot to kill a detective involved in the case. Craig, who has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in his wife’s death, was also charged with solicitation to commit perjury. Records show that Craig was in jail with an inmate he allegedly tried to hire to kill the detective. The detective had worked on the investigation into Angela Craig’s death. Authorities previously accused James Craig of poisoning his wife’s drink with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, leading to her death. Craig had ordered potassium cyanide weeks before her death and had it delivered to his dental practice. His business partner confronted him about the purchase, leading to authorities being alerted. The defense lawyer for Craig has withdrawn from the case, citing a professional conflict and concerns about his client’s criminal behavior. Jury selection for Craig’s trial has been indefinitely postponed. Authorities have not provided additional details about the new charges.
