The Magic City Classic game, where Burnett was injured, is an annual event between Alabama A&M and Alabama State. AJ Clifton, a deputy coroner, confirmed Burnett’s passing on Wednesday. The university described the initial declaration of Burnett’s death as an unfortunate error based on information given by a family member.
