Keanu Dawes, a sophomore forward for the Utah Runnin’ Utes, has returned to his hometown of Salt Lake City after growing up watching games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Despite moving to Houston at a young age, Dawes stayed committed to basketball and excelled at Stratford High School before playing at Rice for a season. Now, Dawes is excited to be back in Salt Lake City and playing for the Runnin’ Utes, fulfilling a childhood dream. His family’s presence at games motivates him to play his best and he is determined to help the team succeed.
Dawes is one of ten newcomers on the Runnin’ Utes squad and is eager to contribute to the team’s success. He believes in the vision of head coach Craig Smith and is excited about the opportunity to compete in the Big 12 conference. The team opens the Mountain to Sea Showcase against Mississippi Valley State at the Huntsman Center on Tuesday. As Dawes puts on his Utah jersey and steps onto the court, he feels the significance of representing his hometown team and is determined to make an impact on the court. With the support of his family and the guidance of his coach, Dawes is ready to take on the challenges of college basketball and help lead the Runnin’ Utes to victory.
