Leaders in Utah, including Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, have acknowledged the urgency of the issue and emphasized the need for more action. Henderson highlighted efforts such as increased funding for food pantries and a renewed focus on addressing hunger in schools. While a recent attempt to eliminate sales tax on food fell through, there remains optimism that the problem can be solved. Henderson emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing gaps in the system to provide better support for those in need. The state is urged to do more to prevent families from struggling in such a prosperous time.
