The Utah men’s basketball team dominated Mississippi Valley State 94-48 in their Mountain to Sea Showcase opener at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Lawson Lovering, making his season debut, impressed with a two-handed jam early on. The Runnin’ Utes played exceptional team ball, shooting over 60% from the floor and assisting on 29 of their 33 made field goals. Gabe Madsen led the scoring with 27 points, including seven 3-pointers. Miro Little also had a career-high 16 points.
The second half saw Utah extend their lead with an 18-0 run, securing their largest lead of the game. Lovering finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while newcomer Ezra Ausar contributed 9 points. With this win, Utah recorded their 1200th home win as a program.
