University of Utah freshman swimmer Jones Lambert has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for his outstanding performance at the midseason competition at Texas A&M’s Art Adamson Invitational. Lambert swam four individual events and two relays, achieving Top Ten Times in the 500-yard freestyle, 1000-yard free, and 1650-yard free. His standout moment came in the 500-free where he set the Utes’ 10th fastest time and earned his first NCAA B-cut. Lambert also excelled in the 200-free and the mile, earning his second NCAA B-cut and helping his team to a second-place finish.
Overall, Lambert scored 46 points for the men’s team, contributing to their total score of 878 points. This placed the Utes ahead of conference rivals TCU, Air Force, and Incarnate Word. Lambert’s success at the invitational solidified his position as a rising star in the University of Utah swimming and diving program.
