Keanu Dawes, a sophomore forward for the Utah Runnin’ Utes, has returned home to Salt Lake City after spending his childhood watching games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Growing up as a Utah Man, Dawes fell in love with basketball early on and excelled in the sport despite a move to Houston, Texas. Playing for Rice in his freshman year, Dawes made a mark in the AAC All-Freshman Team before transferring to Utah.
Dawes considers it a dream come true to play for his hometown team and represent the Utes on the court where he watched them play as a child. Being able to play in front of his family adds extra motivation and support for Dawes. The sophomore forward is determined to help lead the Runnin’ Utes to success and surprise doubters this season.
Joining Utah as one of ten new players, Dawes is eager to make an impact and contribute to the team’s achievements. The Runnin’ Utes will kick off their season with a game against Mississippi Valley State as part of the Mountain to Sea Showcase at the Huntsman Center.
