President-elect Donald Trump has named Russell Vought, a co-author of Project 2025 and former platform policy director for the Republican National Committee, as his pick to lead the Office of Management and Budget. Trump praised Vought for his cost-cutting and deregulatory approach, saying he will help implement the America First Agenda and dismantle the Deep State. Vought responded to the nomination with gratitude and a commitment to the American people.
In his chapter for Project 2025, Vought emphasized the importance of setting fiscal goals early in the budget process to address government financial irresponsibility. Despite previous distance from the conservative project, Trump has selected several individuals associated with it for key positions in his administration.
If confirmed by the Senate, Vought will oversee the budget and policy execution of Trump’s administration across federal agencies. Trump also announced other key Cabinet picks, including Scott Turner for housing and urban development secretary, Lori Chavez-DeRemer for labor secretary, Marty Makary for FDA commissioner, and Dave Weldon for CDC director. Sebastian Gorka was also named as a deputy assistant and senior director for counterterrorism.
Vought previously served in the Office of Management during Trump’s first term and is known for his fiscal discipline and regulatory rollback. Trump’s picks reflect his commitment to implementing his agenda and his continued focus on countering the Deep State and restoring self-governance to the American people.
