Utah Attorney General-elect Derek Brown has assembled a transition team of over 40 experts from various fields, including attorneys, politicians, law enforcement, and business leaders, with the goal of improving and transforming the Attorney General’s Office. The team, which is bipartisan, will focus on issues such as ethics, culture, technology, and communications.
Former Senate Minority Leader Scott Howell, former Overstock.com CEO Jonathan Johnson, and Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera are among the notable members of the team. The team will be chaired by State Auditor John Dougall, former Utah Solicitor General Tyler Green, and former candidate for Utah attorney general Greg Skordas.
Brown plans to build back trust in the office by establishing a constituent service office and making his calendar public. In an effort to gather feedback and recommendations, the transition team will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the office to identify areas for improvement.
The team includes individuals with diverse expertise, such as “Crucial Conversations” author Joseph Grenny, who will focus on addressing the culture of the office. Brown aims to create the best law firm in the state and ensure that the office has the necessary resources to serve the people of Utah.
In addition to the transition team, Brown plans to hold town hall meetings to gather input from Utahns on their expectations for the office. The bipartisan and diverse composition of the team reflects Brown’s commitment to bringing people together and considering all perspectives to fulfill his role as Utah’s Attorney General.
