McNeese Cowgirls Set to Host Utah Tech in Exciting Matchup at Legacy Center
Lake Charles, LA – The McNeese Cowgirls are gearing up for another thrilling basketball showdown as they take on Utah Tech on Saturday, with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Legacy Center. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN+, and those who have tickets to the Cowboys football game against Lamar can gain free admission by presenting their football tickets.
The Cowgirls (3-2) are coming off a strong performance against BYU, despite suffering an 85-64 defeat. In that contest, forward Kiayra Ellis shone brightly, scoring 20 points and achieving a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Ellis currently ranks second on the team in scoring with an average of 9.4 points per game, while Mireia Yespes leads with a 10.6 average. A balanced offensive effort sees seven players contributing six points or more this season.
Utah Tech, competing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), enters Saturday’s game with a record of 2-3 and recently fell to HCU by a score of 57-51. This matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between the Cowgirls and Utah Tech, and McNeese aims to maintain their unbeaten home record, looking to improve to 3-0 at the Legacy Center.
Following Saturday’s contest, McNeese will host St. Thomas (Texas) next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., providing fans with another opportunity to support their team as they continue their season.
