Rep. Moore announces she will not be running for conference chair to replace Stefanik, reports Deseret News

Utah Rep. Blake Moore has announced that he will not be pursuing the fourth ranking leadership position in the U.S. House Republican Conference, vacated by Elise Stefanik, who has been nominated as President-elect Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. Instead, Moore will run for reelection as Conference Vice Chair to focus on conservative coalition building, messaging on tax and budget objectives, and empowering members to communicate directly with the public.

Since taking office in 2021, Moore has quickly risen to the top levels of GOP leadership, being elected as vice chair of the Republican conference in November 2023. He also holds key positions on the Ways and Means Committee and the Budget Committee, where he focuses on shaping messaging around tax policy ahead of the expiration of Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2025.

As conference vice chair, Moore organizes daily speeches and assists with party messaging. Leading up to the leadership elections, he is supporting Reps. Lisa McClain, Erin Houchin, and Kat Cammack for the position of conference chair, offering diversity in what would typically be an all-male lineup. Moore’s decision not to pursue the fourth ranking position reflects his commitment to delivering outcomes for families and workers in Utah’s 1st District and across the country.

Overall, Moore’s decision showcases his dedication to his constituents and his focus on effectively communicating and advocating for Republican policies in the House of Representatives.
