Julio Cesar Hernandez-Narvaez Sentenced for Methamphetamine Distribution
ST. GEORGE — Last week, 35-year-old Julio Cesar Hernandez-Narvaez of Minneapolis was sentenced after entering a guilty plea related to a significant drug distribution case. During a traffic stop on June 13 along Interstate 15 in Washington County, authorities discovered approximately 70 pounds of methamphetamine, leading to his arrest.
Hernandez-Narvaez appeared before District Judge John J. Walton on November 7, where he faced charges of second-degree felony possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He had previously pleaded guilty to the distribution charge during an arraignment hearing on October 3. In a plea agreement, other charges, including misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and two traffic infractions, were dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.
The traffic stop occurred when a St. George police officer observed Hernandez-Narvaez driving a BMW with Minnesota plates too closely behind another vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that he did not possess a valid driver’s license from any state. Additionally, his passenger, 23-year-old Jesus Alberto Rufino Palmeno, held only a temporary Minnesota identification card.
The case highlights ongoing issues related to drug trafficking in the region, with law enforcement actively cracking down on illegal substance distribution. Hernandez-Narvaez’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the legal consequences faced by those involved in drug-related offenses. The investigation continues as authorities work to address drug-related crimes and keep communities safe.
