Centegix, a new crisis alert technology aimed at improving school safety, has been approved for implementation at the Tucson Unified School District. This system equips teachers and staff with a badge featuring a clicker, allowing them to quickly report emergencies and alert the entire building. TUSD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo believes this advancement in security and safety is a positive step forward for the district.
Last week, the Catalina Foothills School District also voted to adopt this new technology, expressing excitement about its implementation. The system is designed to keep students and staff safer on school campuses in the event of an emergency. Communication Director Julie Farbarik of Catalina Foothills School District stated that the new technology gives families peace of mind and creates a safe environment for students and staff, emphasizing that learning cannot take place unless they feel safe at school.
Parent Jennifer Reyes, a TUSD parent, expressed her relief knowing that this technology will be introduced at her daughter’s school. She believes that keeping children safe at school is a top priority for parents, and this new technology will help achieve that goal. With the implementation of Centegix, both the Tucson Unified School District and the Catalina Foothills School District are taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff on their campuses.
