Utah Jazz Injury Leaves New Orleans Pelicans Possibly Without Trade Partner for Brandon Ingram

New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram was at the center of trade rumors throughout the summer as he sought a contract extension that the team was unwilling to give. Despite the speculation, the Pelicans decided to keep him on the roster through the start of the regular season. Now, with injuries to Trey Murphy and Dejounte Murray leaving the team short on wing depth, trade rumors are likely to pick up once the team is healthy again.

One team that was mentioned as a potential trade suitor for Ingram was the Utah Jazz. However, the Jazz suffered a devastating blow when forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a gruesome fractured right fibula and dislocated ankle during a game against the Dallas Mavericks.

With Hendricks out for the season, the Jazz’s lineup and rotation will need to change. This likely takes them out of the running for Ingram, as mock trades involving forward John Collins and center Walker Kessler heading to New Orleans seem unlikely following the injury.

The Pelicans will have to look for other trade suitors if they decide to move forward with trading Ingram. With the 2024-25 season unfolding over the next few weeks, other teams may emerge as potential trade partners depending on how their rosters shape up. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ingram and whether he will remain with the Pelicans or be traded to another team.
