Utah State football player Tanner Cragun was named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance in a game against Wyoming, where he scored nine points including a game-winning 40-yard field goal. This marked the team’s first Mountain West win of the season, breaking a six-game losing streak. Cragun was also recognized as the Mountain West Special Teams Player and Freshman of the Week for his performance.
The award, sponsored by America First Credit Union, supports student-athlete scholarships by donating funds directly. Cragun, a redshirt freshman from Frisco, Texas, has been successful this season, hitting 4-of-5 field goals and going a perfect 16-for-16 on PATs.
Utah State football is currently heading into a bye week before their game against Washington State on November 9. Fans can purchase tickets for the season online or by calling the ticket office.
Nominees for the USU Student-Athlete of the Week from other sports included John Cook from golf, Caleb Armstrong from men’s cross country, Elizabeth Phillips from women’s cross country, Tess Werts from soccer, Olivia Halvorsen from women’s tennis, and Adna Mehmedovic from volleyball.
