Suspect apprehended in relation to accident that claimed the lives of Utah CEO and daughter in Ogden Canyon

Michael John Love, 52, has been arrested in connection to the crash that killed Richard David Hendrickson, president and CEO of Lifetime Products, and his daughter, Sally, in July. Love is facing charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice.

The incident occurred on July 6 when a tow truck passing the Hendrickson’s SUV on SR-39 through Ogden Canyon took a sharp turn, causing equipment to be ejected from the tow truck and into the Hendrickson’s vehicle. Richard’s wife and two other children sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while a fourth child was overseas at the time and not involved in the crash.

Representatives of Lifetime Products described Richard as a cardinal leader and Stake President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Ogden Utah Pleasant Valley Stake. His caring focus on those he worked with, including vendors and suppliers, was highlighted, with colleagues calling him a visionary, friend, mechanic, and expert in finance, management, and sales. Richard’s ability to respectfully engage others regardless of their position was also noted.

Richard’s contributions to the company and the community were greatly appreciated, and he will be deeply missed. The press release from Lifetime Products emphasized his special ability to connect with people and bind his talents together in a unique way.

The tragic loss of Richard and Sally Hendrickson has left a void in the hearts of those who knew them, and the arrest of Michael John Love in connection to the crash has brought a sense of closure to the investigation.
