Teacher and police officer accused of being involved in running Long Island brothels

A veteran police officer and an experienced teacher, along with two others, have been arrested and charged with running brothels and managing sex workers in Long Island, New York. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office described the allegations as a “shocking betrayal of public trust.” The investigation revealed that officer George Trimigliozzi and teacher Steven Arey were part of a group that profited from promoting prostitution at various locations in Suffolk County between October 2019 and June 2024.

Trimigliozzi and Arey allegedly worked as managers at one of the brothels, where they collected “house fees” from sex workers and advertised their services. The group is also accused of robbing a customer at one of the brothels, with Trimigliozzi allegedly abandoning his police duties to respond to the situation.

One of the accused, Frank Saggio, faces charges of sex trafficking and promoting prostitution, among others. He is accused of making sex workers sign leases requiring them to pay him between $6,000 and $12,000 a month. If convicted on the most serious charges, Saggio could face up to 25 years in prison. Trimigliozzi, Arey, and the fourth defendant, Dana Ciardullo, also face multiple charges and potential prison sentences.

The investigation has shocked the local community, with authorities expressing disappointment at the alleged criminal activities of those in positions of public trust. The defendants have not yet commented on the charges against them.
