A Kentucky woman, Torilena Fields, was indicted on a murder charge after police found her mother’s dismembered body in her yard in Mount Olivet. Police responded to a call and discovered human remains inside and outside the house, leading to Fields’ arrest on charges of abuse of a corpse, evidence tampering, and obstruction. A grand jury accused Fields of shooting her mother, Trudy Fields, in the head, stabbing her multiple times, and dismembering her corpse. She was also charged with killing a dog. Fields’ bond was set at $1.5 million, and she was assigned a public defender. Trudy Fields was killed between Oct. 8 and 9. Torilena Fields refused to leave the house initially, but after a standoff and the use of gas and a robot, she emerged with blood on her face, hands, and clothing. A steel pot in the oven containing charred human remains, identified as Trudy Fields’, was found during a search of the home.
