Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the country’s desire for peace and dialogue in the Middle East, stating that Iran does not want to cause instability or engage in conflict. Pezeshkian blamed Israel for stoking tensions and instigating conflict in the region. He rejected the accusation that Iran was promoting campus protests in the U.S. against Israel and denied allegations of supplying Russia with armed drones and ballistic missiles for the war in Ukraine. Iran expressed readiness to work with other countries to resolve the conflict in Gaza and condemned what it viewed as Israel’s atrocities in the region.
Pezeshkian also highlighted Iran’s opposition to Russian aggression in Ukraine and called for dialogue to resolve the conflict. Vice President Mohammad Javad Zarif echoed these sentiments, stating that Iran seeks a peaceful and stable world and is ready to defend itself if necessary. The Iranian government is prepared to initiate new nuclear negotiations, expressing frustration over the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear accord.
Despite concerns about Iran’s nuclear program, Zarif attributed the current situation to the Trump administration’s decision to pull out of the agreement. The U.S. is not expecting to engage in talks with Iran in the near future, with tensions remaining high between the two countries. Overall, Iran’s leaders expressed a desire for peace, dialogue, and a return to the nuclear deal to address regional conflicts and international concerns.
